Data Analyst Job Simulation

Two dependent tickets. A live SQL workspace with public checks you must pass before you submit, a note that is part of the deliverable, messages that arrive while you work. A manager review generated from your own accepted work, with follow-ups and a colleague's SQL to review. Pass both and earn a verifiable certificate.

MansiAnalytics Manager, One Roadmap

Welcome to the team! I'm Mansi, your Analytics Manager. We've got a client deadline this week - I'm assigning you your first ticket now. Clean work and clear communication is what gets you noticed here. You've got this.

Your manager for this simulation - a fictional role at a fictional company.

Why complete this job simulation

A risk-free way to do the analyst job before you're hired - real tables, real checks, a manager's review, and proof you can show.

Self-paced start2–3 hours of workFree to attemptFresher or Experienced trackSQL workspace

Work in the tool, not a form. Write SQL against the client's tables, run it, read the results and fix what the public checks catch - the loop an analyst lives in.

Zero risk. Attempting is free and failing costs nothing. You get feedback, fix your work and resubmit.

Defend your work. The manager review asks about your own accepted queries: what you assumed, what you validated, what you'd change.

Proof recruiters can verify. A certificate with its own public link, LinkedIn-ready, showing the track you completed.

AI you can use, and judge. Ori is there to explain and nudge - and the review checks whether you can spot when an AI recommendation is wrong.

Stand out in applications. Talk about tables you reconciled and checks you passed, not courses you watched.

How it works

01Open the workspace

Your ticket opens a live SQL workspace on the client's tables. Write queries, run them, read the results; Ori explains and nudges, never answers for you.

02Pass the checks, write the note, submit

Public checks tell you what is structurally wrong before you submit. The note you hand in with the query - your counts, your treatments - is part of the deliverable.

03Defend your work

A manager review generated from your own accepted queries: what you assumed, what you validated, a colleague's SQL to review. Clear both tickets to earn the certificate.

Skills you will learn and practice

  • SQL
  • Data Profiling
  • Data Cleaning
  • Data Validation
  • Reconciliation
  • Documenting Assumptions
  • Code Review
  • Business Communication
  • AI Judgment

The tickets

1
DA-201Make the client's sales data trustworthy

Fresher: Medium · Experienced: Hard · Fresher: 90–120 minutes · Experienced: 2–3 hours

What you'll learn

  • Profiling migrated data before anyone analyses it - finding the problems, not following a checklist
  • Deduplication, date parsing and lookup joins in SQL, and writing down what you found, dropped and assumed
  • Why a deliverable is a query plus a note, and why validation runs before it reaches a manager

What you'll do

  • Profile the client's loaded tables in a live SQL workspace and decide what is wrong
  • Handle a clarification from Finance that arrives while you work
  • Run the public checks until every one passes, write your note with your own counts, and submit a frozen artifact a private grader scores against your variant's truth

2
DA-202Manager review: defend your workunlocks after DA-201

Medium · 45–60 minutes

What you'll learn

  • How a manager reviews analytical work: assumptions, validation, limits, recommendation - and follows up on your answer
  • How to state a business recommendation that uses the data rather than the headline number
  • How to review a colleague's SQL for the mistakes that cost money, and how to judge an AI-written recommendation instead of forwarding it

What you'll do

  • Answer review questions generated from your own accepted DA-201 work and its note, then Mansi's follow-ups
  • Review a colleague's SQL for the same extract and name every defect
  • Write the recommendation to the COO with the metrics that prove it, and adapt your query to a changed requirement in a separate copy, graded by result
