What you will do
- Develop and debug Rust firmware for motor controllers, sensor interfaces, and embedded communications.
- Implement and optimize deterministic control loops, state machines, and calibration workflows.
- Integrate tactile, force, IMU, encoder, and position sensors into real-time embedded systems.
- Build test utilities and diagnostics for board bring-up, manufacturing checks, and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
- Collaborate with EE, mechanical, controls, and AI teams to improve system performance and reliability.
What they are looking for
- Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience programming in Rust; embedded Rust experience is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of Rust fundamentals: borrowing, aliasing, async/await, traits, generics, etc.
- Understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, DMA, and real-time constraints.
- Strong understanding of different synchronization primitives.
- Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, or other embedded communication protocols.
- Comfort debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD, and serial tools.
Nice to have
- (+) Experience with Embassy, RTIC, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS/async embedded frameworks.
- (+) Knowledge of BLDC motor control, FOC, current sensing, or encoder interfaces.
- (+) Experience with CANopen CiA 402, EtherCAT, or bootloaders.
- (+) Python or C/C++ experience for test automation and integration.
- (+) TypeScript + React for GUIs.
