What you will do
- Develop Rust services and low-level components for embedded Linux robotic controllers.
- Integrate fieldbus and device interfaces, including CAN/CAN-FD, EtherCAT, serial, SPI, and Ethernet-based systems.
- Measure and improve latency, scheduling behavior, startup reliability, and fault recovery on real-time Linux platforms.
- Build diagnostics, logging, telemetry, and test tools for system bring-up and field debugging.
- Collaborate with firmware, controls, and hardware teams to integrate multi-actuator robot subsystems.
What they are looking for
- Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Strong Rust programming skills and comfort developing on Linux.
- Understanding of operating systems concepts: processes, threads, synchronization, networking, and memory management.
- Experience debugging systems with shell tools, logs, gdb, perf, tracing, or equivalent tooling.
- Ability to work across software and physical hardware in a fast-moving robotics environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with PREEMPT_RT, kernel configuration, device drivers, or Yocto/Buildroot.
- Experience with EtherCAT, SocketCAN, CANopen, ROS/ROS2, or robotic middleware.
- Experience with async Rust, Tokio, embedded-hal, or systems observability.
- Familiarity with CI, containerized builds, and hardware test automation.
