This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week. ABOUT THE TEAM The Platform Engineering team is part of Parametric IT's Developer Experience department at Parametric and is vital to developer enablement and system reliability in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). As a team, we: * Consult and collaborate with cloud-native (AWS, Azure) and self-hosted application teams to deliver and operate reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications * Automate provisioning of non-production environment for application development and testing * Design, operate, and manage development toolchains and CI/CD pipelines to meet objectives for high-velocity delivery while also meeting control requirements * Build and maintain container orchestration on Kubernetes * Provide observability via monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Sentry etc. ABOUT THE ROLE The Lead Platform Engineer will partner with cloud-native application development teams with direct business alignment - empowering them to deliver quality software at high velocity, rapidly receive actionable feedback, and cultivating an environment of continuous experimentation. Additionally, the Lead Platform Engineer will create reusable components and workflows that deliver superior developer experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Function as subject matter expert in the areas of delivering and operating reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications * Serve as a technical lead for key initiatives, influencing technical strategy, driving best practices, and ensuring successful delivery of business objectives. * Mentor and develop team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and constructive technical guidance. * Work with the development teams to design, document, create and maintain highly available systems * Partner with the application development teams to create flows, processes, automation, and tooling * Create an environment of continuous experimentation and learning * Contribute to evolution of our architecture (cloud-focused) to increase its flexibility and ease of use * Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate * Share experience, knowledge, and ideas with the team to improve processes and productivity * Provide tier 2 and 3 escalations for related issues and questions JOB QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree required * 8+ years of hands-on Platform Engineering (i.e., DevOps, SysOps, SRE) experience with a proven track record of people and thought leadership to achieve strategic objectives * 8+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-native solution architectures and related platform support, i.e., Cyber Security, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Observability * Serve as technical lead for strategic projects, providing architectural guidance, driving technical decisions, and ensuring alig
