Over the past years we've built a growing IP working closely with a patent attorney firm specialized in IP.👉 Learn more about us at ipronics.com Main Responsibilities: The Electronics Software Engineer will be involved in the following responsibilities: - Design and develop the software layers and services that expose the physical devices of the system to higher-level applications. - Own the embedded Linux platform: image and BSP maintenance, kernel configuration and build, device tree description of the board, and root filesystem generation. - Maintain and troubleshoot the boot flow of the target, from the first stage after power-on through the bootloader to a fully running system. - Bring up new board peripherals and create, port, or modify drivers when standard support is not available. - Implement and maintain the communication with the physical devices, inside the board and towards external equipment. - Testing, profiling and performance analysis of the software developed, running on real hardware. - Collaborate with the electronics, FPGA, photonics and application teams to understand the subsystems controlled by the core software layer. Ideal Candidate Requirements: Education: Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience Experience: 5+ years (senior) in embedded Linux or low-level systems software. Technical Skills: - Advanced level of Python. - Solid Linux fundamentals from a systems perspective: processes, services, filesystems, permissions, logging and networking. - Embedded Linux build systems, cross-compilation, image and rootfs customisation. - Working knowledge of BSP, device tree and kernel configuration, compilation and modules. - Understanding of the boot chain of an embedded target. - Proficiency in C to work with kernel-side code and drivers when needed. - Communication protocols from the operating system side: buses and network interfaces. - Debugging on target: serial console, system logs, and the usual tracing and debugging tooling. - Git workflows, code review and software testing practices. Nice to have: - Experience with Rust (highly valued). - Writing or upstreaming Linux kernel drivers. - Experience on SoC platforms combining a processing system with programmable logic (FPGA). - Real-time Linux, latency and determinism analysis. - Containers on embedded targets, OTA updates, secure boot and image signing. - CI/CD for embedded targets, including hardware-in-the-loop test benches. - TDD/BDD frameworks and software design patterns. - Hardware validation using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser). - Git portfolio and/or open-source contributions. - Prior experience in photonics or optical systems. - Experience in hardware validation using lab equipment. - Soft Skills: Team player, continuous learner, communicative, adaptable, problem-solving oriented, with ownership of the platform they maintain.
