The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with customers, bridging between different stakeholders, also in a fast paced environment. In this role you may: - Lead post-sales customer meetings, collect requirements, and be the primary point-of-contact for them - Travel to customer sites to see our products being used on the field, and fix problems on-the-fly - Work directly with the software infrastructure & deployment teams to ensure delivery of our products - Bridge between sales and engineering functions - Help guide the engineering teams to understand customer requests and features Hard Requirements - Business level proficiency in English and Japanese - Excellent communication skills Preferred Qualifications - Industry experience in EPC, maritimes, chemical manufacturing, heavy equipment manufacturing, semiconductors, or other related industries - Industry experience in management consulting - Good visual taste / an appreciation for aesthetics - Comfortable with building out features / prototypes using Claude Code, Codex - Ability to understand issues in cloud deployments (knowledge of computer networking, DevOps, common issues on major cloud platforms) - Academic background in computer science or engineering - Proficiency in other languages (e.g.

Apply to this role About Outerport We’re about to see an influx in the AI-led discovery of new medicines, specialty chemicals, and materials. This means the bottleneck will shift from R&D, to the scale-up of these new recipes. Unfortunately, designing these production systems and making sure they can be operated safely is an expensive and labor-intensive ordeal that involves thousands of pages of drawings where one mistake can cause millions of dollars in rework or even disasters.

Outerport solves this by helping engineering firms automate the design of the industrial control systems needed for production scale-up, using a domain-specific language for electrical design with thousands of unit tests that verify performance, and building simulators that can ingest already built schematics of plants to help automate comissioning and help train operators to prevent costly mistakes.

Outerport is already used at leading EPCs, control system integrators, heavy equipment OEMs, etc (including multiple Fortune 500 clients) to speed up design engineering and simulations. Our team consists of experts in computer vision, computer graphics, systems software, and AI from companies like NVIDIA and Tulip Interfaces. With backing from Y Combinator and top-tier venture capital firms and angels, we're looking to expand our team to accelerate product development.
