Eight competencies, scored separately

Not one number called “data analyst”. Your result reports a level for each of these, so you can pass overall and still see exactly where the gap is.

15%

SQL & Data Querying

Reasons about joins, aggregation, CTEs, window functions and query results.

15%

Python for Data Analysis

Works with pandas for cleaning, grouping, merging and analytical calculation.

10%

Spreadsheet Analysis

Lookup logic, multi-condition formulas, pivots and spreadsheet data quality.

15%

Statistical Reasoning

Chooses appropriate methods and separates association from causation.

10%

Visualization & Data Storytelling

Selects defensible charts and communicates findings to business audiences.

15%

Data Quality & Reconciliation

Validates metrics, reconciles conflicting sources and spots definition problems.

12%

Business Analytical Judgment

Decomposes problems, finds real drivers and recommends on the evidence.

8%

Analytical Communication

Moves from what happened, to why it matters, to what should happen next.

Assessment standard

Every attempt draws a fresh paper - but always the same number of questions from each competency area, so nobody gets an easier test.

Part A40%

Core Analytical Skills

SQL, Python, spreadsheets, statistics and data preparation - read the query, read the code, get the number right.

Learning outcomes

These are what the public verification page reports - and each one is claimed only where your own attempt evidenced it.

SQL & Query Reasoning

Demonstrated ability to reason through joins, aggregations, window functions, query outputs and common reconciliation problems.

Python Data Analysis

Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply pandas-based data cleaning, transformation, aggregation and analytical workflows.

Spreadsheet Analysis

Demonstrated understanding of spreadsheet lookups, pivots, conditional calculations, duplicate detection and data-quality workflows.

Statistical Reasoning

Demonstrated ability to interpret statistical results, choose appropriate analytical methods and distinguish association from causation.

Visualization & Data Storytelling

Demonstrated ability to select appropriate visualizations and communicate analytical findings clearly to business stakeholders.

Data Quality & Reconciliation

Demonstrated judgment in validating metrics, reconciling conflicting sources and identifying common data-quality risks.

Business Analytical Judgment

Demonstrated ability to break down business problems, identify relevant analytical drivers and develop evidence-backed recommendations.

Analytical Communication

Demonstrated ability to translate analytical findings into concise business implications and recommended actions.

How the written cases are graded

A model reading your case response and returning “8.7 out of 10” is not a grade - it is a guess with a decimal point. So we split the job in two: the AI only observes, and the code scores.

The evaluator reports which analytical behaviours it can evidence in your own words - segmented the problem, checked the source, separated evidence from hypothesis. It has no score field to write into. Points come from a fixed rubric in code, so a terse answer that names the right checks outscores a fluent one that names none.

1

Your case response

80-150 words, in your own words, in the time you have.

2

AI evaluator

Reports only which expected behaviours are evidenced, and which red flags appear.

3

Deterministic rubric

Code turns those observations into points, using the bank's own signal list.

4

Weighted result + competency profile

Part A 40%, Part B 35%, Part C 25% decides the 75% pass mark; the same answers roll up into a level for each competency.
