This role prefers you have certain Payments domain expertise or demonstrate quick-learning skills.Get to Know the RoleYou will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining one of our Payments Core (FundsCore) platforms which includes complex backend systems and data pipelines to meet both functional and non-functional requirements.You will contribute to our Operational Excellence and mentoring juniors in the team. You will report to an Engineering Manager II and work onsite at Grab One-North office in Singapore.The Critical Tasks You Will PerformDesign, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software applications that meet business and non-functional requirementsWrite clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems in the Fintech domainCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new featuresParticipate in code reviews to maintain code quality, ensure proper technical documentation, and facilitate knowledge sharingTroubleshoot and debug complex issues, providing fixes and implementing long-term sustainable solutionsContribute to architectural decisions and the technical direction of projectsEnsure system reliability and availability through observability practices and drive continuous improvements in Operational Excellence; participate in On-Call rotations is mandatoryProvide DevOps support to the team to ensure system health and performanceMentor junior engineers and interns, encouraging a culture of learning and improvementStay current with latest industry trends and technologies; leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and improve system capabilities Read more Skills you need What Essential Skills You Will NeedBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldStrong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structuresAddress not only happy path scenarios but also handle edge cases and unhappy paths effectively4+ years of relevant software development experience with proficiency in one or more major programming languages such as Golang (preferred), Java, or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire necessary technical skillsExperience with clean architecture principles, data-driven application design, and large-scale data processingProven experience building large-scale distributed systems utilizing DBMS, caching solutions, NoSQL databases, and application servers (RESTful and gRPC) while ensuring data consistencyHands-on experience with microservices architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services), and DevOps practicesOperational and compliance excellence – ability to implement solutions that meet requirements for Observability, SLAs, Security, Data Governance, and Regulatory complianceWrite efficient, extensible, and thoroughly tested code for complex projects, selecting appropriate abstractions that follow SOLID principlesWrite effective design documents and maintain up-to-date documentation (e.g., runbooks)Demonstrated experience with learning new technologies and business domains, with experience applying Generative AI to enhance work productivity;Experience in the Payments domain (e.g., settlement and reconciliation) Read more What we offer About Grab and Our WorkplaceGrab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp. From getting your favourite meals delivered to helping you manage your finances and getting around town hassle-free, we've got your back with everything.
