As a founding engineer, you won't be maintaining someone else's roadmap — you'll be writing the first version of it, shipping the systems that let autonomous agents assess, represent, and place candidates end-to-end. What you'll do Build and ship core product surfaces solo — from the candidate-facing agent experience to the employer matching engine — with no spec handed to you Design and iterate on the agentic pipelines (LangGraph, Anthropic models) that vet candidates, assess technical fit, and negotiate introductions Build the CLI-based technical assessment tool candidates use in place of a resume Own our Next.js/TypeScript/PostgreSQL stack across frontend, backend, and infra, moving between all three as needed Work directly with founders on product decisions — what we build next is often your call Use AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0) to move at a pace a normal-sized team can't match What we're looking for 2+ years building production software, ideally full-stack, at a startup or high-ownership environment Strong TypeScript/React fundamentals; comfort picking up new tools (Next.js 16, Prisma, OpenSearch) quickly Genuine interest in LLM agents and applied AI — you've built something with an LLM API, not just used ChatGPT Bias toward shipping over planning — you'd rather ship something rough today and fix it tomorrow Comfortable with ambiguity: no PM, no detailed specs, just a problem and a direction Bonus: experience with recruiting, marketplaces, or two-sided platforms You'll be one of the first engineers at a YC-backed company redefining how hiring works — with outsized ownership and outsized impact from day one.About StandoutStandout is an agentic hiring marketplace that deploys autonomous AI agents to represent both tech talent and companies, vetting each side and making introductions only when fit is confirmed.
