Job Board Discover opportunities across our network 565 jobs · 77 companies Compliance Engineer - Pune, Maharashtra Scimplify Compliance / Regulatory Pune, Maharashtra, India Postedon Sep 27, 2026 Apply now Role Overview The Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring complete and timely statutory, regulatory and operational compliance at the fertilizer manufacturing facility in Pune. The role will involve managing requirements under the Factories Act and applicable Maharashtra rules, MPCB requirements, statutory licenses and registrations, employee safety requirements, contractual compliances and other applicable laws . The position will act as the key coordination point between Plant Operations, Production, Quality, SCM, EHS, Legal, HR, Finance, external consultants and government authorities to ensure that all compliances are identified, implemented, documented and renewed within prescribed timelines. Key Responsibilities 1\. Statutory & Factory Compliance - Ensure compliance with the Factories Act and applicable Maharashtra Factories Rules and other applicable labour, safety and manufacturing regulations. - Maintain and periodically update all statutory registers, records, notices, returns and prescribed documentation. - Coordinate statutory inspections, audits and visits by government/department officials. - Track observations, notices and compliance directions and ensure timely closure. 2\. MPCB & Environmental Compliance - Ensure compliance with applicable Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) requirements, consents, authorisations and conditions. - Track validity and renewal of CTE, CTO and other environmental permissions/authorisations . - Coordinate with EHS, Operations, Production and consultants for environmental monitoring, returns, reports and regulatory submissions. - Ensure timely implementation and closure of conditions stipulated in regulatory approvals. 3\. Licenses, Registrations & Certifications - Maintain a comprehensive License & Compliance Master Tracker covering all plant licenses, registrations, permissions, approvals and certifications. - Monitor expiry dates and initiate renewal processes well in advance. - Coordinate applications for new licenses, amendments, expansions and modifications arising from changes in plant operations. - Ensure that all licenses and certificates are displayed/maintained as required by law. 4\. Employee Safety & Statutory Safety Compliance - Coordinate with EHS and plant teams to ensure compliance with statutory employee safety requirements. - Ensure required safety certifications, inspections, registers, training records and statutory reports are maintained. - Track statutory requirements relating to safety equipment, emergency preparedness, occupational safety and workplace conditions. 5\. Contract & Agreement Management - Maintain a database of all statutory, operational and commercial contracts/agreements applicable to the plant. - Monitor expiry and renewal dates and initiate renewal well in advance. - Coordinate with Legal, SCM, Operations and respective stakeholders for execution, amendment and renewal of agreements. - Ensure contractual compliance obligations are tracked and fulfilled. 6\. Compliance Monitoring & Audits - Develop and maintain a plant-level compliance calendar with clear responsibility, due dates and status. - Conduct periodic compliance reviews and internal audits. - Identify compliance gaps and coordinate corrective and preventive actions. - Escalate critical, overdue or high-risk compliance issues to management. - Maintain proper documentary evidence for every compliance activity. 7\. Coordination with Internal & External Stakeholders - Coordinate closely with Legal, Operations, Production, QC, SCM, EHS, HR, Finance and Corporate Compliance teams. - Liaise with external legal/regulatory consultants for interpretation and implementation of applicable requirements. - Coordinate with government departments and regulatory officials for inspections, applications, renewals and approvals. - Follow up with stakeholders to ensure compliance activities are completed within defined timelines. 8\. Regulatory Updates - Monitor changes in applicable laws, rules, notifications, circulars and government orders. - Assess their applicability to the plant and coordinate implementation of necessary changes. - Maintain an updated repository of applicable statutory requirements and regulatory documents. Key Deliverables / KPIs - 100% timely renewal of licenses, registrations, certificates and statutory approvals. - Zero critical statutory/regulatory non-compliances. - Timely filing of statutory returns and submissions. - Up-to-date statutory registers and compliance documentation. - Timely closure of regulatory inspection observations. - Effective maintenance of compliance and contract trackers. - Timely identification and implementation of regulatory changes. - Audit readiness and availability of complete documentary evidence. Qualifications & Experience - Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Industrial, Safety Engineering or relevant discipline. - Experience: 3–7 years in statutory compliance, factory compliance, EHS compliance or regulatory affairs , preferably in a chemical/fertilizer/manufacturing plant. - Working knowledge of Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, MPCB requirements, industrial safety and statutory licensing . - Experience in dealing with government departments, consultants and statutory inspections will be preferred. - Strong documentation, follow-up, coordination and compliance-tracking skills.
